    Pricing Variation

Please note that all prices listed for the cruise are subject to change from a day to day basis until you book. We do not set the prices of the cabins. The cruise line sets all pricing and promotions which are subject to change without notice.

The final cost may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to:

    1. Seasonal Variations: Prices may fluctuate depending on the time of year, with peak seasons typically costing more due to higher demand.
    2. Availability: Availability of accommodations in different cabin categories can lead to different prices.
    3. Exchange Rates: Fluctuations in currency exchange rates can impact the overall cost of the trip, especially for international travel.
    4. Taxes and Fees: Government-imposed taxes, service charges, and other mandatory fees can alter the total price.
    5. Special Promotions: Prices may be subject to discounts or surcharges based on promotional offers or changes in package deals.
    6. Service Upgrades: Optional upgrades or changes in service levels will affect pricing. As well as onboard purchases or excursions purchased additionally through the cruise line. This includes purchases you make on your cruise line app.
    7. Transportation: All flights and travel to and from the cruise are the responsibility of the traveler and are not included in the cruise fare unless otherwise stated on your booking.
    8. Travel Insurance: This is recommended and will result in an increased trip cost. You're welcome to purchase coverage through a third-party provider, two of our recommended options are ideal for long-term travelers: SafetyWing or Faye. Alternatively, you may also purchase trip insurance through the cruise line directly. Please let us know if you are interested in purchasing the trip insurance directly with the cruise line.

Please confirm the latest pricing details with us before finalizing your booking. We strive to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information, but prices are ultimately subject to change based on the above factors and other unforeseen circumstances and the discretion of the cruise line.

The exact price will be determined during the booking process once the cabin category has been selected. Prices are valid as of publishing date and may be different at the time of booking.

Flights Cost Less Than You'd Think

Flights are the #1 worry we hear from families before booking and usually the smallest line item once you look at real numbers. Here's what flights into the nearest airport typically run from a few major hubs.

Do you charge extra to organize these cruises?

No. We're compensated by the cruise line directly, so your cabin price is exactly what you'd pay booking on your own, with the added value of the group and everything we organize around it.

Can I join you if I book on my own?

No, only families who booked through us are considered part of the worldschooling group. If you want to sail on your own, you are welcome to book yourself. If you want to be a part of the worldschooling cruise group, you need to contact us to book. We spend countless hours putting these group trips together and promoting them to make sure that you have a great group of families to travel with. We do not charge anything for that service, apart from the commission the cruise lines pay us naturally.

Additionally, all the families who book into the group are connected in a WhatsApp group early on to get to know each other and make other plans before and after the cruise.

What are some of the extra expenses I should anticipate?

Generally speaking, most families on a budget can get by without spending much more than the cruise fare. Additional expenses would be for optional things like wifi, alcohol, the casino, spa treatments, and excursions.

Gratuities are automatically added to your onboard ship balance and, on most ships, run $16 to $25 per person per day, but can be removed or adjusted by visiting the guest services desk on the last day of the sailing in favor of tipping in cash directly to the staff.

    Group Life & Community
What group activities will be organized?

We keep scheduled group activities simple and optional, so families can enjoy both connection and freedom during the cruise.

    Every sailing includes:

    • A welcome meet-and-greet on embarkation day
    • A group dinner on the first night to help everyone get acquainted
    • Linked dining reservations so families can all dine together nightly, though some may choose to dine based on their own schedule
    • Access to a group chat for coordinating meetups, excursions, or spontaneous gatherings throughout the trip
    • Optional, but highly recommended: port excursions, specifically tailored to our worldschooled group

Beyond that, the cruise ship itself offers a full schedule of entertainment, kids’ clubs, and activities — which families are free to enjoy together or separately. In our experience, children make friends quickly, and adults naturally form smaller connection groups based on shared interests and energy levels.

We also try to arrange special enrichment opportunities, such as a behind-the-scenes talk with the ship’s engineer or staff, though these are subject to cruise line approval.

Dining is flexible: we link all cabins under the group reservation so it’s easy to sit together or make your own plans.

Each family can engage as much or as little as they choose — our structure creates space for connection without adding pressure or over-scheduling.

    Do you facilitate group communication?

Yes. On all cruise lines and ships, there's an ability to communicate through the ship's app. Your designated organizer will create a group with everyone's stateroom numbers, so the group can text. Prior to the cruise, there's a WhatsApp group where all communication takes place, as well as a shared document with the details each family chose to share about themselves, and tips for the cruise.

How do I know if we'll get along with the other families?

That's a question you need to ask yourself. Most families get along really well if they actually participate in the group and are open to new friends.

During our past cruises, introverts have enjoyed sporadic company of other introverts, while their kids were able to be social and extroverts had fun with the whole group. No matter what, you'll have the experience that's right for you. The more you put into it, the more you'll get out of it. Be yourself, be authentic, and make time to connect with others. You'll be so happy you did!

    Education & Family Fit
Is this cruise suitable for homeschooling families?

Absolutely. Our programs are designed specifically for homeschoolers, worldschoolers, and unschoolers. Whether you searched for a "homeschool cruise" or "worldschooling cruise," you'll find that our trips are built for educational, family-centered travel.

Is there an educational component to this cruise?

Worldschooling cruises are deeply educational in their nature. There are multiple public, cruise-ship-organized talks during each sailing on how the ships and operations work that kids and adults can attend. The social experience of spending time with a group of diverse kids from different families in our group is often more educational and valuable than school itself. Some cruise lines offer additional enrichment opportunities throughout the cruise with talks on different topics. There are trivia and game shows daily that can be used as an educational component. We usually try to request the engineer and ship manager to come and give a talk to the kids, however that's subject to the ship's approval. Children as young as 10 can have the kind of freedom on the ship that they can't find anywhere else, and that, in itself, becomes an incredibly learning and growing experience for many families.

Aside from what was mentioned, there is no additional scheduled educational programming to worldschooling cruises, because the cruise experience is extremely scheduled out and busy with activities in itself. Having other families join in the fun makes it even busier, as the kids and adults tend to enjoy the company of like-minded friends. Most families find that they decide to forego school altogether and just let the kids enjoy the freedom and the friendships. We have also found that families appreciate having group time and alone time, and adding more activities to what is already scheduled by the ship creates too much stress.

    Excursions
Are there group excursions for the worldschooling group?

We do organize group excursions on many of our worldschooling cruises. This is an additional cost to the cruise fare, however we do negotiate very good pricing through the tour operators to keep costs as low as possible. In most cases, it will be much cheaper than booking excursions on your own. You will pay Every Avenue Travel directly for the excursions we organize. We will send out a list of the excursions we will be organizing via the WhatsApp chat for that specific cruise with all of the details you need.

How do you select group excursions, and how much do they cost?

Generally our goal is to always make these excursions as affordable as possible. We organize these trips the way we would do it for our own family, looking for the biggest deal and the most epic experience and trying to balance the two. We spend quite a bit of time searching for and reaching out to local tour operators, negotiating with them on rates, and figuring out the best tour itineraries.

One of the biggest goals we have as a company is to always work with locals, so that our money goes to people who live there rather than to a call center or corporation. What we try to do is outline some experiences that cannot be done anywhere else. If a destination has something very unique to it, we will do it, as long as it's in a reasonable price range for that experience.

For example: Hobbiton in Tauranga, the glow worm caves in New Zealand, snorkeling the Barrier Reef in Honduras, or interacting with sloths. Usually the walking tours in European ports, at 2 to 3 hours, tend to be the cheapest option, around $30 to $50 per person.

The more intensive excursions run about $80 to $100 per person, like all day tours or something unique. Once in a while there will be one that is $150 per person, but they are usually really special.

You are always welcome to join or skip any of the group excursions, based on your family's goals or budget.

    Life at Sea
I don't think I can handle that many days at sea.

Sea days are the fun days. If you are new to cruising, you might not know yet just how much fun sea days are. Port days are great for exploring new places, but they can be exhausting and don't really allow any time to explore all the fun features and activities the ship offers. Consecutive sea days give you more of a routine and plenty of time to enjoy your worldschooling group, connect with others, join in the ship's activities, and explore the floating "city." The longest I have ever had was 11 consecutive days at sea with the worldschooling group, and it was one of the most fun experiences I have ever had.

    Will I get sea sick?

Most ships are so large that sea sickness is not an issue, even for those who experience car sickness or small boat sickness. They have very strong stabilizers, and the crew does their best to avoid bad weather. In our experience, two-week ocean crossings usually have about two rocky days that don't impact most people. We do recommend bringing some sea sickness pills and patches just in case, but they're rarely needed.

    About Us
Can you tell me more about your mission and vision?

At Worldschooling Journeys, our mission is to create meaningful, connection-based travel experiences for homeschooling and worldschooling families who want more than just a vacation.

We believe that learning happens best through real-world experiences, especially when shared with a like-minded community. Our vision is to build a mobile village — one where families can explore the world together, support one another, and give their children the freedom to grow in environments that are rich with culture, diversity, and natural curiosity.

Whether it’s a multi-country cruise, a seasonal farm stay, RV caravanning, sailing, skiing, or slow travel — we aim to design journeys that reflect the full spectrum of what families want to experience together. We focus on:

    • Ease and flexibility — no packing and unpacking, no rigid structure
    • Deep community — families who travel and learn side by side
    • Real-world education — through place, people, and presence

We’re building more than trips — we’re building a lifestyle of freedom, connection, and learning that families can return to again and again.
