Discover Hakodate through its fishing traditions, ancient Jomon heritage, and samurai-era history. Explore the city’s famous seafood market, create a traditional Jomon craft, and finish at the star-shaped Goryokaku Fort while learning how Japan transitioned from the Edo period into the modern era.
Hakodate Morning Market & Maritime Culture: Explore one of Hokkaido’s best-known seafood markets while learning about squid fishing, seasonal catches, traditional fishing equipment, and daily life in Hakodate’s fishing community. Interaction with local fishermen may be possible depending on vendor availability.
Optional Live Squid Fishing: Try Hakodate’s famous live squid fishing experience, subject to the day’s catch and seasonal availability. This activity is paid separately on site.
Hakodate Jomon Culture Center: Discover prehistoric Japanese life through archaeological displays, ancient tools, and the National Treasure Hollow Clay Figurine, also known as Chuku-Dogu.
Hands-On Jomon Workshop: Create a traditional craft such as a Magatama pendant or Angin weaving with guidance from workshop instructors and interpretation support from your guide.
Lunch: Stop at a local restaurant recommended by the guide. Vegetarian options are available, but lunch is paid separately.
Goryokaku Fort: Walk through Japan’s first Western-style star-shaped fort while learning about the final years of the Edo period and the Battle of Hakodate.
Optional Goryokaku Tower: Visit the observation tower for panoramic views that reveal the fort’s complete star shape and the surrounding city. Admission is paid separately.
Included: Private vehicle and English-speaking guide throughout the tour.
Not included: Lunch, attraction admissions, workshop participation fees, optional squid fishing, optional Goryokaku Tower admission, and personal expenses.

Experience Hokkaido’s volcanic landscapes and traditional culture in one full-day excursion. Walk through the steaming terrain of Jigokudani, choose between a traditional onsen or a natural forest foot bath, and spend the afternoon exploring an Edo-period village with performances, historic streets, food, and optional hands-on activities.
Jigokudani (Hell Valley): Walk through a dramatic geothermal landscape filled with steam vents, sulfur springs, and volcanic terrain.
Noboribetsu Onsen Town: Learn about Japan’s centuries-old hot spring culture and enjoy time in one of Hokkaido’s best-known onsen towns.
Optional Onsen Experience: Guests may join a traditional gender-separated, swimsuit-free hot spring experience for approximately $10–15 per person.
Forest Foot Bath Alternative: Guests skipping the onsen can visit a free natural foot bath, reached by a 20–25 minute walk.
Noboribetsu Date Jidai Village: Explore a recreated Edo-period town with traditional buildings, cultural shows, samurai-era attractions, shops - free time for 2.5 hours.
Optional Kokeshi Workshop: Make and decorate a traditional Japanese wooden doll for an additional $10 per person.
Lunch Option: Choose between all-you-can-eat beef or a seafood meal inside the village for approximately $17 per person. Due to the remote nature of the port, vegetarian and other dietary options are not available, so guests with dietary restrictions should bring snacks or stop at a nearby convenience store.
Included: Round-trip bus transportation from Muroran Port, guided touring, and admission to Noboribetsu Date Jidai Village (worth $25).
